This was the song that jump-started it all. After I decided to pursue music writing and production as a living again on the 4th of July, 2014, this was the first song I wrote. The lyrics for the song's only verse hit me as I was writing the music, so I just wrote them down as they came to my head and sang the first melody that came out...
"For so long, I was dreaming all of my dreams, that I forgot I was asleep. Now I know that I can't live out all my dreams, unless I am awake."
This was an accurate description of my struggle for many, many years.
But sadly, I lacked confidence in my mixing of the song to release it, so I sat on it for the past couple of years and ended up forgetting about it often. But because the end of the song features Gene Wilder saying one of my favorite lines of all time, I was reminded to finish this song when he passed away last year. Thanks to his death, sad to say, I finally finished this song and now, here it is for you. May he rest in peace.
